~LOL~ see above. BTW I hate the thought of the Dry Lake Valley turning into a solar city. I have solar on my roof, because it makes sense and I was able to do it w/o destroying the aesthetics of my tile roof. I would much prefer they put more into developing things like the solar roof tiles and make it economically feasible for people to go in that direction, than destroy our desert with those things.
 
The son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Rory Reid, is the primary representative for ENN Energy Group, a Chinese energy company seeking to build a $5 billion solar panel plant on a 9,000-acre Clark County desert plot in Laughlin, Nevada.

ENN scored big when Clark County commissioners unanimously voted to sell the Chinese company the public land for just $4.5 million, despite the fact that it was appraised at $38.6 million.

Sadly maybe not a lot has changed for the Bundys because the under lying reason of the desert tortoise has not gone away. This could all start up again for them?

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Biological Opinion, or BiOp, on the proposed Stateline and Silver State South projects, which First Solar wants to build in the Ivanpah Valley near Primm, Nevada.

USFWS estimates that the two projects combined will displace or kill as many as 2,115 desert tortoises,

The desert tortoise is protected as Threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

There was one good thing from this - it destroyed Rory Reid's plans to run for the Senate. I don't know he is still involved in the job he held at the time of the Bundy raid? If there was ever an example of elected official taking advantage of their office to fill pockets it was Reid. He would approve things - like a second bridge over the Colorado River between Laughlin and Bullhead City and then before anyone knew swooped in and purchased the vacant land the bridge would be built on for a steal. The only reason that ploy failed was the 2008 crash so the bridge was never built, but he sits on the land. Same around Searchlight - buying up land for housing developments and then special dispensation for water....

I don't think it will under Trump Administration. We have two of the best we could have hoped for in EPA and Interior.
 
Can you find that map? It would be interesting to see it, as they want to close off the west and force us all into cities where they can control us.
 
Unless I was asleep in the 1970's, the first major push to shut down the west was from the commie ecowackos fake spotted Owl Scam! Under that fraud, they managed to shut down responsible logging in most of the west, which is resulting in the most disastrous fires in American history, due to their criminal mismanagement of our forests. Turns out, all the spotted owls, or any other bird needs is a branch on a tree! The ecowacko groups need to be sued for the cost of every fire in the last 50 years! Especially the devastating ones in Mexifornia, as they refuse to allow any commonsense clearing/thinning in the wildfire prone areas!

You're right. They targeted the Red River region of Texas, Oklahoma, Northern New Mexico - much of Colorado. I saw a wish map published by environmental groups a couple of years ago showing a map running from Texas, through NM, CO, WY, etc., and all the way over to Alaska - all land they wanted to make off limits. Did you read the article I posted the other day about how so much land in the West is Federal land? I found it a good re-education on the subject of the old range and water wars in the West. I have hopes under Scott Pruit a lot of the insane ruling - like the desert tortoise - will be turned back. The ranchers showed how they had lived among the cattle for decades w/o harm There has probably been more harm done to tortoise than anything by the solar cities like the one outside Las Vegas [and don't forget the Eagles killed by the windmills].

Take a look at a map that shows "Wilderness Study Areas", vast areas of land we are being denied access to by any method other than by foot. This is being done all over the West.
 
The BLM is studying another 12.6 million acres of the west to shut down! The USFS does not seem to be talking.
