Dangling Rope Marina - A Retrospective

Featured in the center of that picture is the rock formation called Dragon Rock or Pete‘s Dragon, I forget? It was named that way from that younger guy that used to work at Dangling Rope for many summers. He’s the one that did that epic journey on a paddleboard or a kayak from bullfrog to Wahweap or something like that?

Great memories. Sad the great spot is gone. I'm disappointed that in this great country of ours, we allow things like this to happen. Just a total shame. Like driving through small towns in Texas. Or New Mexico. Dead towns. Or California, where dead desert towns, where the only remaining commercial enterprises are pot stores.

Hope this thread gets some momentum. I took these pics in September of 2024 on my way to Escalante. I pulled into the side canyon to the west of DR and walked up the service road.

They were cut down a few weeks after I went up there and took those pictures and posted them on WW. It was Sept 2024. Lets just say another WW member went up there and made a bunch of videos that were potentially going to draw people to DR and it got the attention of the parks department and they went up there and dismantled the the BB courts. I wished I hadn't posted the pics after that happened.
