While we haven't bought gas there for many years, we always stopped for Ice Cream and to drop off trash. It was always a special place for our family, and the memories will never go away.

There's always something cool about cruising 40+ miles on the lake and then you come around a corner and there is a marina in the middle of nowhere.

Hope this thread gets some momentum. I took these pics in September of 2024 on my way to Escalante. I pulled into the side canyon to the west of DR and walked up the service road.

The floating toilets on the lake have always been, and will always be, enough civilization for us on Lake Powell !

A whole generation will never experience the Ice cream or the feeding of the carp. For myself, I am good either way

Someone should fix up that housing area and rent out the rooms. I bet there would be a market. Just a small dock is all that would be needed.

Id set up a nice telescope on that concrete pad and call it an observatory marketed as a celestial get away...

Ive never seen the milky way as bright as when on the boat up lake on a clear night.

Question for you WW sages: What year was the Rainbow Bridge Marina 'installed'.....we know it was showcased in the '67 Nat Geo....photos taken in '66......but what year was it put in service?

That's DR......butt, Rainbow Marina was mucho earlier.....and it was relocated to DR canyon in '83......

Yeap, read it wrong. I remember watching (and hearing) a girl snap her leg trying to fend a boat off the Rainbow Marina dock in '73...... Always a rule on my boat. Unless asked to help with a line etc.... sit down and shut up while I am docking.

It was in place by the summer of 1965.
