If they really make any improvements with whatever money they have left after enforcing the plan hopefully they will actually use it here to make things better and not just send it onto headquarters in Washington DC. If so, if us Powellers really see something for our money most of us will be fine with it. If instead of the revenue staying here it flows into their general funds elsewhere

100% a money grab. ZERO of the increased fees will remain on Powell. Washington doing, Washington things, as usual.

I don't mean to be that guy and I feel sorry for anyone who didn't know and got ticketed but an annual pass to use your boat on the lake aka as a Canyon Pass is not a new fee. Park Service raised the cost of it drastically this year in what amounts to, in my opinion, a revenue grab. I've bought and displayed an annual pass on my houseboat every year it has been in the marina on the lake going back to 2017 as has been required by the letter of the law. In the past Park Service has not come into the marina to enforce the annual pass policy but since they increased the cost and want to raise the revenue now they are. Many moored marina bound houseboats have not been purchasing an annual pass and enforcement has here to fore been very laxed.

The annual pass used to be $50. for everyone regardless of how big your boat was. This year the annual cost for my 58 foot houseboat was $200. For the big Super Houseboats they are now as much as $1,600. Park Service says that they want the money to improve docks and services for everyone but also to make special pump out and fuel dock accommodations for the huge Superboats class of houseboats.

I hope Park Service follows through in the future and shouts about what good the did with our money from the extra fees but I'm not holding my breath.

Bottom line, if you have any type of boat in any marina on Powell you may want get a current annual pass displayed on it or you may get a ticket

I, too, vehemently chimed in during the comment period letting NPS know the proposed, now implemented, fee schedule was not only unfair and clearly originated from the minds of ignorant and stupid people, but was particularly and disproportionately biased against owners of larger boats. My CHIEF argument was larger boats use exponentially more fuel, thusly already paying their fair share of use tax. In case folks are not aware, NPS receives revenue off of every ounce of fuel sold on the water. I do not know what the precise amount per quantity is. So, if anyone has insight regarding that, please post.

You can't fix stupid and, of keen interest to me, has always been how defensive stupid people become when their stupidity is pointed out to them. They will literally bite off their noses to spite their faces versus just agreeing that they are, in fact, stupid. Laughable if it weren't for the fact these same people hold positions that ultimately cost me money. Just watch the movie; "Idiocracy". Mind boggling how close we now are to that plot.

Like any bureaucracy, the modus operandi of the Park Service, supported by the preponderance of evidence, seems to be "Fabricate a problem so I can get my buddy a job."
