I dont want this thread to be one where people are posting their own boats for sale, as they can make their own post in the yard sale section.

This be something I’ll like since I’m looking for our replacement cruiser…sold Fantasea last spring due to failed outdrive… needed to downsize anyway, I’m specifically looking for a used Sea Ray 240 Sundancer if anybody knows of any for sale, please let me know. Thanks.

Fwiw, that wouldn’t scare me. I have 900 hard hours in my Malibu and it runs great.

If I remember correctly, the houseboat we were partners on that sank had something like 3500 or 4500 hours on it when it sank and it still compression checked fine right before it went down.

If properly maintained, you can get a LOT of hours out of an engine.
 
Great idea and a fun activity to have when it's gets cold outside. I have also bought, remodeled and sold a few boat over the years. I have also remodeled the trailer on each boat.

Caution!
I saw a boat I have been looking to buy for several years, talked to the owner, saw photo's, sent a deposit and flew in to inspect and finalize the purchase. The owner was a very dishonest person. The actual condition of the boat and trailer was nowhere as described, additionally when I asked for my deposit back I only received a partial refund. I was buying the boat as a Lake Powell open cruiser, it was 28', still looking for the same boat only this time if it's out of state I'll inspect then buy if it checks out.

I never thought a boating person could or would be so dishonect, but their out there.

Curious about this. I’ve bought (and sometimes flipped) a number of boats that weren’t exactly close in distance.

I’ve always driven out and back. If you flew out, how would you get the boat back home? Most of the rental car agencies prohibit towing in their contract.

And I do agree that buying at distance is a risk. My definition of “great shape” isn’t the same as everyone else’s. You have to be ready to walk away if it isn’t what you thought. Even with tons of photos and videos, things sometimes turn out not as expected.
 
Ryan, my plan was to add new rims and tires and return the following week to tow home to Colorado from Minneapolis. I was told the tires were in great condition, but tires can look new even after 10 plus years. I was also told several people were interested in the boat and after searching for a few years didn't want to miss buying the boat so I sent a deposit. I felt more disappointment in the person than not getting a full refund for mispresenting the actual condition of the boat and trailer.

I still have faith in people, just know that there are a few who have no shame.

I fished out of a lone star for years with an 8 hp Honda, the front end looked a lot like this boat. It was a cool 1959 boat, but my old buddy had a rack on his old Ford gas guzzler, and the Honda had its place. We man handled that heavy *** boat 'For alluminum' every trip for years, I don't think I was ever so glad, when I got my own boat, on a trailer😂

I thought that looked like a Lone Star as well. That was my first personal fishing boat.

Found a little treasure yesterday, been laying top down for 25+ years on the side of Grand Mesa, Gregor u34, 13' 3" all welded, came with 25 years of squirrel poop, pee and acorns!
