I have one that I bought mostly for that purpose. Used in 2020 when all the launches were shut down for Covid. By far the best bass fishing I’ve ever had, the fish had not been pressured and were super aggressive!
It worked fine, was ok with one person rowing (human trolling motor) and the othe casting. But having an electric trolling motor is nice. Had a 4 hp that was fine for getting around.
Mine is smaller than that, one large would be pretty heavy and bulky I would guess…

Check out eide or load-it rear boat loaders too. No trailer to destroy and you don’t have to do the Texas rattle snake trying to back a trailer up on that road.. I’ve never owned one but seen them and they look slick.. although I’ve heard north lake sucks and we should all stay away.. but it not I guess I’ll see you up there, I’ll be the sullen hippy staring you down if you try to camp within a quarter mile of me ✌️
 
what a great thread dragging a boat to blue notch, in the past not to big deal , now big deal, the road is as rough as i have seen it in 20 years the storm we had in late sept and early November were 200 year rain storms it wiped out parts of the road . thanks to san juan county it was fixed in 10 days ,fixed is a relative word they did the best they could , but the last 1 or 2 miles are a different story ,but the tall hill lea nasty deep rain ruts some 2 and 3 feet deep the first big hill is bad but go slow in low four wheel drive and it can be done (we tried to fill in the biggest ones in November ) . red canyon is the only launch so you have to climb the hill between blue and red canyons part of the road is washed out so you have to go straight up the hill you will see our tracks( Dallas calls it puckerhill you will find out why when you get there) once up on the ridge follow the biggest set of tracks down the ridge 200 yards follow the tracks to the left there is one spot to get down off the ridge this is rough , deep ruts follow the tracks down . it might be better to walk some of these places first ,once your off the hill a small canyon splits the flat we were camped on the flat on the left side ,hand carry only ,not an issue for me I use pool noodle's for rollers and Dallas got me a 12 volt winch portable i hook it to the trailer and with the rollers bring it right back to the trailer, before the winch i used hand cranked cable winch its just a lot slower . if you go right at the bottom of the flat follow the tracks around do not cut across the bays , there still muddy dry on top muddy under go around to the cliff you can launch off the rocky points note i said ROCKY POINTS do not try to launch were its not rock if its not rock its mud . we dont know how low we will be able to launch here but its the last shot. looking at the pic of the boats one thing you might want to take the motors off ,to much bouncing and dragging in big holes creek crossings hard on the transom , over the years i have seen lots of boats that didn't make it wheels fall off tongues break off ,remember where you are and have rabbit brush repairs phone number and your credit card handy . i love the boats cant wait to see you down there ,LWH

There is always a few spots .. it just takes some pretty serious effort to get to them. I’ve always had the most fun up there taking a flotilla of paddle boards and stayin around the castle. I know that doesn’t appeal to everyone but it works well and you can launch anywhere and you can rig them to be stable as heck. I mainly use them to get to different banks to bank fish tho. I built up my cataraft with a platform and put 101 lb thrust trolling motor on it and that worked really great up there too. I have serious trepidation launching a 12 footer and taking a journey on the big lake as Powell has successfully scared me for the last 23 years with its wind and weather

I have been dragging a lot of different boats in and out of Powell for a lot of years on and off. And it has been worth it every time. I use a wheel barrow, cart for boat, and a lot of back if I have to. The old saying is 'nothing ventured nothing gained' except maybe a back ache 😩

When I picked Jesse up in there in November, there was a spot in there some one had put a boat in, and it actually looked like a good spot, but it has dropped another 4 or 5 ft since then. And that makes a huge difference. I have never driven in to Blue notch, and probably never will. But I have drug many different boats into other places. It is work when the lake gets this low on that end. But as I speak, it is piling up in these mts and in my drive way, so come on 60+ ft rise. 'Atmospheric rivers keep coming' 👍

I am more worried about how long I can put my Bullfrog bomber on, cause I'm not waiting for spring:)

I talked with 2 guys that didn't think about there battery in a jon boat and it beat a hole in the bottom. They were pretty bummed out, and I had some of that miracle tape 😁 I give it to them, and I was leaving, so I never heard the rest of the story. But on roads like that, a guy better secure every thing, anchors, batteries, motors, etc.
 
We take our 8' SunDolphin pedal boat on a platform on the back of the truck(F150) into Blue Notch/Farley. It works fairly well for my family of four(usually two fishermen). It ends up being pretty good exercise, and it goes the same speed no matter how hard you pedal, so you can just pick a comfortable pace. My kids(10 and 13) are getting big enough to pedal me around, but I haven't pushed that aspect too hard(yet). My son got a portable fish-finder for Christmas that will be perfect for that situation, as well as ice fishing.
 
I used to have a 14' Aluminum boat with a 20 HP motor. I put the boat on my pickup shell rack and the motor in the back of the pickup, back in the 90s. We used to just carry it down to the lake
I have picked up a transom saver in one of the deep gully crossings before
 
I have a 12 ft Gregor all welded boat, really steady boat and its rated for a 20 HP, I would love to put a 20 on it some day, but a 20 is heavy enough, that its pretty awkward for one person to take on and off a boat. I have a 6 HP now, and its half the weight of my 9.9 Suzuki. And 61 lbs is awkward enough.
But then I have an old electric that is heavy, the 31 Optima battery is 60, and it all adds up. But I still do it, and pay the price latter. The boat is 160 lbs. And then you throw in a fish casket, and 200 lbs of gear, and its more then your little boat is rated for 😁 Sure glad they don't check that.

MAAAN IT MUST BE TIME TO GO FISHING

Here's mine. I added storage and a rear deck. When you go from a 21' Bass boat you need to get creative.

that boat sounds just like what I have , I have a 15 horse motor but its just to heavy so I have a Honda 5 horse its heavy enough , I guess it has something to do with turning 70 , everything I use is rated by me for use by old man and not heavy is number 1 but not to hard is number 2 . the winch Dallas got me was a game changer , its 12 volt 2500lbs pull i put a strap around the trailer axel and pull . I use 3 inch pool noodles and roll the boat back to the trailer , it balances good on 5 both ways down and back , for bigger boats i have seen inflatable , i cant wait to see you all there good luck with the new boats
