Kevin -- I have to ask because I am anything but a crappie fisherman --- I think I have caught 3 in all the years i have been fishing Powell --- all by mistake.
What do you use and what do you look for to catch crappie at lake powell?

Look for the same stuff you would look to catch bass in. And a lot of different plastics work. My brothers favorite are a pearl white Gulp grub and an 1/8 th oz fish head jig in pearl white. But everyone has there favorite. Mine has to be 1/ 16 th oz pearl white fish head jig with limetreuse yum ribbon tale grub. But find the Crappie and they all work.

There Dad sent me those pics, and I agree, allways make those kids wear them👍
Salt and pepper assassin, chartreuse tail, 3/8 th oz jig.
They do wear them each time we are fortunate enough to make it out on Grandpa's boat. I told my youngest boy in the photo, (Calvin, who turns 7 later this month) that you caught 46 striper, and his reply to me was... "I want to go fishing with Kevin for my birthday!" 😂

Hey Kevin, congrats on the nice Eye. I caught one this week a little smaller than that. We're heading down on the 10th for a few days of fishing. What was your water temperature? We're going to catch our regular 25 stripers then devote the rest of each day to walleye and crappie. How was the water clarity up north? Was the best fishing early or was it better in the afternoons when the water warmed a little? Were the crappie in the shallows yet or are they deeper?
I am buying a place in Ticaboo and plan on putting it on AirBnb after we do a little fixing up. So in the future if anyone is interested......
Regards, Larry

Water temps were 52 to 54, and caught them through out the day, but it was better early. We Crappie fished mainly at night in the slips, Caught 4 or 5 Walleye fishing for Striper.

Are you going back for Calvins B day? If I'm there, I would be honored to take him fishing or go for a day with you guys😊
