Beach bags - License to drill!

In my opinion, Beach Bags should be required to pick up their equipment within 3 hours of a client removing themselves from a beach. The bags should come out and then be redeployed. I would maybe agree that they can be in the same spot for 14 days following the Park service camping limit. Then like most they should be required to move a minimum of 2 miles away before redeploying the bags. This is similar to the Forest service requirement for tent or trailer camping. No one will admit to it, however, they do seem to have a defacto reservation system because they do not remove equipment in a timely manner. This is a business model problem that they need to address yesterday. If they can't get the bags removed don't put them out. They charge enough to get them removed and they should have it on their schedule prior to deployment.

Parked up on Padre Bay and found two rebar left in the rock at our camp site. Pretty surprised they are still in such a busy used spot.

Got the hammers and pipe wrench and got both of them out.

Crazy anyone would leave these. This is not what pinning is and gives pins a bad wrap.

If anyone sees another one let me know and I will go pull it out.

Thought I would share a post I saw on FB regarding Beach Bags.

Seeing as my last post was so well received

. I thought I would mention another interaction I had on our trip. This was with beach bags. We came up to a spot in last chance that looked good. There were 6 bags on the beach however. Remembering a post from last year that they said that if a boat is not there you’re free to anchor I thought “ok let’s put this to the test”. We anchored up and I anticipated having a confrontation shortly as we left the marina at 6am. A few hours later the beach bags crew shows up. I was sure they were going to say something like they were just waiting for a boat to arrive. They said hi preceded to remove the bags and were a great group of guys that better get paid a lot because doing that in those temps looked brutal. They were very courteous and answered several questions I had. Also not a single bag was pinned like they were doing during testing. Might be giving them a go next year.

Why even give them 3 hours.
When you leave a spot I bet you take all your ‘stuff’ with you at departure.
BB should be held to the same standard.

Curious, how long would you say it took them to drain and load up the bags?

I had a member of our houseboat use them 2 weeks ago. "They charged me $1600. They "reserved" a beach in Warm Creek." Those were his words not mine. Seems wrong if you ask me.
$1600 covers food and fuel for two three day trips for us with a full boat. Like all the way to the San Juan and back. I can’t fathom adding that to a vacation just for convenience.
