Thanks for the report, I was worried about your trip because of weather but as you said it is already a good trip! It looks like the best of both worlds as far as fishing partners too! So glad you were successful after coming that far and catching those "skinny" fish, they look like pigs! I hope the rest of the trip just improves.
 
We are up and at it early, mostly do to little man getting us up at 5, but we were launching just after first light and heading straight for the sunken island. Immidately we found fish but also immediately the W started. It would go from dead calm to gusting to 20, then calm again.

We lost our group of fish at about 10:00 and after a few passes I said let’s head to bullfrog and just screw around there. We no sooner got into the back of bullfrog and the big winds were starting. Packed it up by 11. We figure we got 15-20 mostly by use of anchovies.

Dad and I forced our way out about 9:00. Cold and a stiff wind. Grady and his mom decided they’d stay at the room. It was a good choice as I was wishing I didn’t take all the ice fishing stuff out of the truck for this trip.

We decided to hit halls creek bay to scratch that itch. I’d seen reports and wanted to go take a look. Man what a nerve wracking canyon. Whales, shallow spots, sand bars, etc seemingly everywhere. Idk if anyone has mapping they trust 100% but I sure don’t!!! Just a spooky place!

Regardless, we froze and didn’t get a bite. Trolled from 18 fow in the back all the way out to the mouth. As we reeled up, our two inside rods were tangled….such is life. We were meant to get humbled for a day!IMG_6299.jpeg

We saw that white hen mallard on our trip as well. My buddy in NODAK says they are called Blonde Hens and are very rare. Supposedly they are good luck and the gods are smiling on you!

An easy game is a good name in this case. I’m trying to remember if it was other ducks, or her that first greeted my wife and I at the main bullfrog ramp 4 years ago. I’m sure it was her but just don’t remember. I know it’s been her since. Whether or not she always has the same boyfriend is tough to tell!

It’s settled then…Blondie! Hopefully others will help keep track of her. I suspect she’s smart enough to just stay in Bullfrog. Funny that some ducks just become locals and others migrate. Never did understand that. I’m guessing she has more than one boyfriend…not because she’s blonde though!
