No, I rarely fish for them. I have had one good night in my life. I think I fished from afternoon until 7:00 and caught 30 or so.Any burbot?
I will take all the pictures I can get if you willing to share! Not at all! I have more pictures of the ramp and the Bullfrog area from our recent trip, if anyone is interested.
How are the Burbot for eating? Are they better then Striper?Any burbot?
Burbot are good eating kinda taste like lobster or even cod, but I prefer striper over them. How are the Burbot for eating? Are they better then Striper?
Personally, I think they are better than striper, but not as good as walleye or perch (my favorite freshwater fish). How are the Burbot for eating? Are they better then Striper?
I love boiled Bluegill in a butter sauce with a little tabasco, I have heard people call it poor mans lobster. But I never thought it taste like lobster at all.I personally thing the whole poor man lobster stuff sucks.. They are good fried but you clean them similar to a catfish by peeling them back, so they’re a little bit of a pain without the right tools.
Back to the thread, this site needs all the fishing pictures you guys can shell out, especially this time of year!
I am with Trent, Burbot are just a flaky white meat fish, cook them just like any other! They are a very firm texture, so I guess that is where the poor man's lobster thing comes from.I love boiled Bluegill in a butter sauce with a little tabasco, I have heard people call it poor mans lobster. It was way fun, wish I were there now. Its only going to get better, I caught several cats at night to. I had cabin fever so bad I was pacing and driving my better half crazy. When I get to thinking Powell, I do that pacing thingI am with Trent, Burbot are just a flaky white meat fish, cook them just like any other! And yes back to the thread! Catching 69 striper is some pretty darned good fishing, especially considering its January!
Very light wind Friday, Sat, and Sunday I might have to go back myselfSounds like you better get hooked up to your boat and head down this coming weekend Trent. We will see ya there! Haha
What’s the depth over there?Kevin
You said the slips were slow at Halls? Did you try BF?
I can’t go this weekend but maybe next?
I never Todd, I was camped over by Halls, If I go back I will use very little fuel, I will fish BF only. It was 100 ft where I fished at Halls, and I never went into the BF slips, but out side of them at the deep end where there building the new dock, it was only 45 ft.Kevin

I’d love too! I’ve checked the weather a couple times this winter JUST to see if I could pull it off and it hasn’t really been possible. I have a fishing derby on the gorge this weekend. I’m open next weekend but some perch and crappie are calling my nameSounds like you better get hooked up to your boat and head down this coming weekend Trent. We will see ya there! Haha
