Crimp the barbs! They come out way easier and last longer.Getting the boat sorted out for my trip. Changing some treble hooks. I love and hate how hard these fish are on lures.View attachment 25930

I have been using the VMC 4x strong saltwater trebles. they are affordable and last lot longer than the luresHave slowly tried switching out for salt water hooks and heavy duty split rings on our spoons.
Yep, I do the same. You have to watch out for what size as they can ruin the balance on the crankbait.I have been using the VMC 4x strong saltwater trebles. they are affordable and last lot longer than the lures![]()
How do you switch them out really quick? You mean you leave them in the fish and take them out later?
These are the best I've found for spoons at powell, smash the barb and you can unhook a striper in no time. In the heat of the summer we often don't even lift the fish out of the water. With the open eye, you can swap them on super quick. Added bonus when someone in the boat gets stuck, it's just as easy coming out of flesh! I've tried them on numerous topwaters, the hook-up ratio goes waaay down, but if they are boiling you get 8 or 9 hits before you have to reel a fish in![]()
