Water temperature this morning was 54 degrees at the main Wahweap Ramp. The wind is still blowing about 15+ mph and air temperature is still in the 40s. Air temp will not get warmer than 59 today. Bass will pull off the newly created nests and wait until water warms into the 60s again before returning to spawn on the new nests. When conditions get windy and cool during spawning season bass find a warm cove and spawn there. Spawning becomes a local event instead of a lakewide process. Spawning will happen at different times in different places during the rest of April. Water is still clear in the southern lake so bass beds will be easy to see. Water is not yet rising so nests will be about 3 feet deep. bed2.jpg
