Wind question

Great discussion. What’s your favorite wind/weather forecast site for up to 2-3 days out? I like Weather Underground and find it to be pretty accurate. Once on the lake, without an InReach ($$) or cell signal, we are at the mercy of weather sense (watching for “mares tails” clouds) and common sense.

I agree with using Weather Underground also - it's my go to. You can print out the 10 day just before you leave home or the dock and it will at least be semi-accurate 3-5 days out. An easy way to keep an eye on weather changes (i.e. wind) is to have a barometer with you on the boat (or on your watch nowadays). The faster the pressure is dropping the higher likelihood of strong winds - storms are low pressure, high and steady pressure pretty much ensures no steady wind above 10-15 mph, but gusts still happen in the summertime. (this is my experience - I'm not a trained weather person - we KNOW they get the weather right all the time!)

And then along comes the monsoon and it everybody for themselves. You can be in one bay and have a nice sunny calm day and the next bay over is getting hammered. Unless you are real close to where you want to be it's better to find a beach.
