Where to fish?

Just got to lake Powell today. I’ll be renting a boat tomorrow. Where are the best places to fish the lake and on shore? I’m staying at the Lake Powell Resort and planning to rent my boat at the Marina beyond the state line boat launch.

If you're after stripers a recent report from way up north said warmer/stained water in the back of canyons was good. You could easily try Wahweap Creek and/or Ice Cream Canyon (in Wahweap Bay)

If you are going uplake then the back of Rock Creek, Dungeon and Wetherill are some of the options. Regardless of the Canyon the technique is the same. For stripers go to the back of the canyon and troll bright colored deep-diving crank baits in 25 feet of water. For bass, drop plastic grubs on the bottom in 20-40 feet of water. Add a night crawler to the grub to attract walleye. Fishing is more challenging than usual but the opportunity to catch these fat healthy fish makes up for catching fewer fish than expected.
