Where are the stripers?

We have had a few peak years with very strong year classes making walleye available to all. With average years there are still plenty of walleye. Walleye spawn in March so only female walleye are feeding. Males are totally focused on spawning. As the water warms in late April both male and female walleye are very hungry and eager to hit your lures. The month of May is the best walleye month with a hungry population searching for food. Then June arrives and the water gets warmer, shad have spawned and are available. As this happens walleye revert to foraging at night so fishing gets tougher. This is why we have no limit on walleye because they are abundant but only regularly captured in the spring.
Thanks Wayne!

First time posting on here. Just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their input on this form and Wayne for running it along with speaking to me on the phone Friday afternoon.

Now on to the fishing, I fished Lake Powell for the first time yesterday in GHB. I was able to catch 7 walleye 17-20”, 20 or so stripers, and a half dozen or so small mouth. Walleye mostly came from 10-30 FOW trolling size 7 flicker minnows 50-92 feet back in a variety of colors but silver and black worked the best. All were caught on wind blown points. Stripers seemed to be a bit deeper 30-50 FOW. All the smallmouth came off my inside rod when I got the bait close to rocky wind blown points or humps. If anyone has tips for catching the walleye in the lake I would appreciate the knowledge!
