What is keeping the lake level stable?

The data doctors will chime in soon, but I’ll offer a couple of quick observations. Flaming Gorge is releasing about 20% more than historical average and GCD is releasing about 20% less than average. The FG releases get LP inflow, including Colorado River flow, to about the same as level of about 7,000 cfs. Looking at USBR graph, these conditions should hold through the calendar year. JFR showed us the details awhile back. I’ll try to find it.

It's mostly due to the rain since the Flaming Gorge release is only a few hundred cfs higher than normal. There was a spike in the rivers that feed Powell about 6 days ago and it has kept inflow around the same as outflow. It actually registered above 11K cfs for one day due to big spikes in precipitation, mostly in Utah. The Green was flowing at about 4K, and the San Raphael and the Escalante were above 2K cfs.
