Great report...What size flicker shad and how fast were you trolling Headed down on the 19th Dennis from Junction
We trolled everything from size 5 to size 7. I don’t know if it truly mattered but they did seem to inhale the 5s more. Maybe just because it was a smaller bait. Unsure.

I trolled 2.4-2.8 as that’s where I’m most confident and it worked just fine. When we’d hook a fish I’d slow down to as slow as 1.6 and still catch fish. Conversely, sometimes they’d hit the outside board on a turn. I really don’t know if they cared about speed or size. When we found the fish they’d hit every offering. Just seemed to prefer bright colors over neutrals as most times the bright color would get hit first. And a few times the neutral colors wouldn’t get touched at all but that was rare.

Im headed on the 20th as well just hoping the ramp can handle the dump as the lake has dropped 2' since I was there 2 weeks ago...
I did a bad job at taking any pics of the ramp but I couldn’t see the end of it anyway due to muddy water. It looks like the lake dropping has bottomed out šŸ¤žā€¦..but always hard to say and I know people were launching at the ā€œrecord lowā€ water level in March, so I think everyone will be okay.

Hug the tires on your way around the houseboats. There was only 7 foot of depth according to my fish finder. Any closer to shore and you’ll really be skating by.

I think for boil mania I’ll hop on your boat. I don’t know if I can stand the crowds that summer brings! Memorial Day weekend is enough for me!!
I don't go on Holidays, but I chased boils around Halls last year in August, with several wake boats, and had no problems, even in my 16 ft boat, they were all cool, and even some would chase boils for a while. You would be welcome on my boat.
Hope the Shad have a great spawn, and August is as good of boils as last year.
I would take you and your your dad to chase boils, and you wouldnt have to drag a boat, just drive and jump in. Not a big boat, but deep enough to feel safe😊

My group of four will be there the 19th going home the 23rd. House boat on A dock, double slip, yellow run about 24 ft. Does anybody know where the mud line is currently? Last I read was Good Hope Bay was 2 ft visibility and it look like the lake ended at the Horn.

Satellite image from yesterday. No wall of mud yet...

Doesn’t appear to have changed at all since I was there. The lake changes to that lighter green color right before you round the corner to good hope (motoring north of course). Will be interesting to see how quickly it changes when this runoff makes it to the lake.

Hate it for you guys!

I’m heading east m, today after work, on a turkey hunting adventure hitting multiple states. To start the trip will be lows in the 20s with wind chill at 15 degrees….and that’s the best weather I can find! Other places are 40 mph winds

How much snow is there in the Black Hills? I have gone over there and found all the Forest Service lands were covered in snow and most of the turkeys were down on private property! Still killed a gobbler though! Was kind anticlimactic, as I called one in at 7:30 am on the first morning of my hunt. Drove 9 hours to hunt for a few minutes!
