lol yes I learned about the whales….luckily not the hard way. I bought a nice chart plotter from Garmin that I hope will help me navigate safely around those things hahaha!!!
I'm not sure if it applies here but Garmin uses the Navionics software so to use the chart plotter correctly, you should know that you must adjust the lake level accordingly.

Since we have strayed from the original topic, I will add my 2 cents regarding navigation on the lake. Do not rely on the charts when you are running on plane. It has been said many times here, but stick to the River channel until you have laid tracks on your plotter. I have been fortunate enough to not have any encounters with the lower unit, but have had many holy sh*t moments that have scared me enough to stay cautious! 🤣 If it is based off of Navionics, 3606 ft is where the factory settings are based off of. So you will need to adjust your settings to the current lake elevation.
