Hey RickSifish..love walleye...going down Monday out of BF...what’s PFTs...have had some luck trolling...jigging raps sounds fun...colors?
 
Pretty sure he's referring to the Professional Walley Trail (PWT) tournaments. Lots of acronyms for PFT that could start a long humorous thread with this group - especially if its referring to wave boats. hahaha Good luck
 
If you are looking to fish crankbaits for the walleyes, there is a youtube video called "Wicked Sauger at Bighorn" that shows the techniques for steep bank canyons like you find in the south end of the lake. It is from Bighorn Reservoir in Montana and is about catching the first cousins of the walleye in the fall. Probably a good primer.

Thanks for the info on this thread. I always catch walleye, but they are a secondary target. Maybe I need to focus on them a little more.
 
Headed for Bullfrog tomorrow, will also be in a white Ranger with a purple stripe. Fishing north to Goodhope and beyond. If you see me flag me down. We'll trade recipes.lol
 
I knew at sometime someone would come along that knew how to fish walleye here on LP. Now after a couple of years of folks trying to learn how to find and catch them RickSifish is willing to pass along the help needed. Kudoos to him!!!!!!! :) I never fished for eyes as I had no idea how. Tried to no avail a couple of times. Also I was brought up exclusively fishing foe carp in a clown suit (trout) and not warm water species.
Now maybe lots of folks can go out and learn a little better on them with this generous help offered.

Ha! ‘Carp in a clown suit” I love it, someone who thinks like I do about trout.
‘and thanks from me too for the walleye info. Can’t wait for the chance to try new things

I’ve had luck with bottom bouncers in the same habitat that RickSfish describes. I ordered 3 Rapala jigs to try, thanks to his info. Ill
post if they work for me.
 
I gave these a try and did catch three using them. When I first tried it I got bit on the third jerk, was not able to land it but did get it to the top to see it was a walleye. Thought I was really onto some thing. Took me another hour and a half to finally catch my first one. They were not hitting anything very well. Best we could to was 12 one day. Did catch 51 for the trip. Looking forward to trying these next spring.

I actually troll with down riggers and when I come over a drop off where I am marking fish. I come back over it about a foot higher. That usually produces something. Don’t be afraid to get down 70-80 ft on those points. There are cottonwoods in the back of Halls that always hold walleye, and there is an submerged island across from moki that is another go to. Then there is a area of flats at the mouth of red canyon on the northeast side.

Can you help me locate the submerged island across from Moki?
 
Sure, when you come out of Moqui canyon shoot across the channel to the Northwest. It is about 350 yds from the entrance and about 75-100 yds of the point on the other side to the northeast. I dropped a pin in the area, this link should take you there. Let me know if it doesn’t work.
