Back in the Jurassic, when I was a kid, this thread wouldn't even exist. Every kid had a BB gun. No one would call the swat team because kids were walking around the neighborhood armed with deadly weapons. I would sometimes drive my Dad's truck to high school with shotguns clearly visible in the rack at the rear window. The principal or a teacher, upon seeing the guns would start a conversation about hunting or bird dogs. That said, times do change, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. I believe teaching a kid about shooting and the safe use of firearms with a BB gun is as as American as it gets.
