Tire break water Bullfrog/Halls

Just wanted to put this out there for anyone heading down to north end, once you head up lake from Halls Marina or Bullfrog Bay, the channel marker buoys get really narrow around the point of Stanton Creek (for lack of better description). I highly recommend you travel between those to red and green buoys as just outside of them the end of the tire break water was not very well marked and with a little wind chop they were really hard to see. I imagine they would get marked a little better once they finish the move but it is definitely a navigation hazard at the moment.

Definitely keep your eyes peeled out there. I notice the tire barriers all over the lake have been riding pretty low in the water. Wind & chop makes them even harder to see.

You probably know this already, but many boaters don’t: Red right returning. When returning up river, keep the red markers to your right (starboard). When you leave the main channel and enter a bay (like Wahweap or Bullfrog), the “flow” is different from the main channel’s flow. So when you’re heading downriver in the main channel toward Wahweap, keep the red markers are on your left (port). As soon as you leave the main channel and turn into Wahweap bay, keep the red markers on your right since you’re returning upstream into Wahweap bay.

Yes, I've always used: red right returning, red left leaving.
All based on returning to Port.

Placement of the red and green buoys may have originally been to keep to a certain side while navigating up/down lake but my experience is that other than giving you an idea of location on the lake, they currently serve no other purpose. I'd never try to navigate by them, too many are out of position, especially true the further north you go on the lake.

Navigation buoys are laid out as if you were returning to port from sea. If you are traveling upriver/up lake, it is the same as returning to port, so keep the red buoys to your right or red right returning (returning to port from sea).
