Off topic, but my wife and I and three adult kids just did our first Grand Canyon hike, staying at Phantom Ranch one night, and then hiking out. My sons caught small fish in The Colorado and Bright Angel Creek. Are there any trophy trout in the Colorado River anymore? I ask as I know Lees Ferry is down for big fish as well? Ray

I am not the expert on Lees Ferry but know that the average trout size which used to be 3-10 pounds in 1970's is now down to 12-18 inches. There could be a trophy trout but it would be rare - kind of like Lake Powell Stripers - 10,000 to 1

Thanks Wayne, I have a friend who was a mule rider 30 years ago and he would tell me of the giant trout he would catch after work at the junction of The Colorado and Bright Angel Creek. They were killing fish when we were there on Tuesday and Wednesday in Bright Angel Creek, but I thought there would be no way to electro shock the Colorado, so perhaps a giant would be possible. Beautiful spot anyway, Ray
