The Loss Of Dangling Rope

I just received an email from Laketime, who manages my timeshare. As an adder this year they are offering a 100 gallon additional fuel tank on their boats. This is not a bad idea considering the Dangling rope situation.

I don't remember, but the back toy tank is 200 gallons? So an additional 100 gallons for toys, 300 total?

Let's hope not. I almost sold my boat a few years back because I was not enjoying the lake anymore. DR going down has been a game changer.

I think they are intending the extra 100 gallons to assist you in getting back to the marina if you decide to go further uplake, but it would work for toys also. On the Laketime boats the toy tank is 200 gallons.

I've been on a 75' Laketime houseboat for 15 or more years. We have never even come close to running out of fuel even going to Piute Bay in the SJ and pulling 2 fish boats. Never go to Dangling except for ice cream. With the HB's pump set you can move fuel around so that you have a comfortable amount of fuel for the whole trip. We did, however, gave up skiing and tubing a few years back but we often fish well away from the houseboat and for most of the day. Chuck

I was thinking the same thing, when we had a Laketime 75" we never came close of running out of gas. We went as far as Oak and ran the genny almost every night all night (AC). And 200 gallons for toys was always enough for two jet skis and wakeboard boat, and extra 100 gallons gives a nice cushion.

My Laketime boat is a 65 footer and I take it to Great Bend on the San Juan usually towing 2 ski boats. I do use a lot of fuel, but don't need to bring any additional.

I wouldn’t be surprised if on the water fuel is over $8/gallon this summer. That will have more of an effect on people staying close to the marinas than the loss of Dangling Rope.
