on the southern part of the lake, and some select locations east and north, I have connected to Navajo Mountain for cell and data using Sprint and Verizon. signal strength varies but is generally reliable. Have also had friends who connect with AT&T. But, after switching to T-Mobile, we see "Can't connect" when trying to use that tower. After some calling around I got to talk to a roaming support specialist at USA-Commnet (owns the tower, third party partner of T-Mobile). She informed me that T-Mobile has denied access for their customers to the tower on Navajo Mountain. WTF??? After some weeks, T-Mobile will not tell me why, just a continuous "we're waiting for more information..."
There is strength in numbers. If some (hopefully large) number of us file a coverage complaint then maybe T-Mobile will get the message.
If you are a T-Mobile customer and want service on the southern lake then PLEASE file a coverage complaint.
From the T-Mobile community forum: "I've had some luck getting T-Mobile to unblock some US Cellular LACs by going to them with specific information. What I'd do is call 611 and tell the CSR that you want to file a coverage complaint. Be specific about the location where you want to service and the fact that there's a Commnet tower and its location. Make sure they give you the "ticket number" call back in a week or so to request status. Be prepared to hear some confused blather from the CSRs you talk to. Most of them I've encountered are not very technical and only have been given certain stock phrases to explain things. "
