Starlink RV Available - No Waiting!

Whatever you can stream. We cut the proverbial cable years ago and went 100% streaming at home. So everything we can get at home, we can get via Starlink as well. The Roku Channel features a bunch of live programming. We use Sling to get most of the "cable" channels. KSL has an app (kind of a crummy one) that shows their various news and locally-produced programs. Lots of options.

If you are an amazon prime member, there are many free streams available via your membership. I use it for movie watching. On the subscription side I use fubo at ~$80/mo for comprehensive sports coverage (though there are many other streams on fubo).

What is required to set it up when you're going to be mobile, such as on the houseboat? My hunting buddy got one, and he is not sure what is required to set it up in the RV mode. Running his business from camp, will be a huge relief. No more running into town just to get cell service!
If he bought the RV version, there's not much to do. Install the app on his phone, plug everything in, the rest is automatic. He'll need to hit the "Stow" button in the app before putting it away at the end of the trip (or else it won't fit back in the box).
If he bought the Home version, he'll need to log into his account and enable roaming (an additional $35/month). The rest is the same as above. Pretty straightforward.
If he wants to make phone calls, he'll need to set his phone to WiFi calling (not every carrier allows this, but most do) or use a telephony app of some sort. We've used WiFi calling on Verizon and AT&T. Verizon seems to be the most "chill" about it. AT&T wants a verifiable US postal address for your current location (for 911 services). Verizon will let you put in things like "Lodgepole Campground, Daniels Canyon, Heber UT."

Over the years I've taped my Cell phone to the top of my dorane yes I know not allowed ..send it up about 600 feet grab all my e mails and Text messages bring it back down answer anything Important send it back up and send messages and bring it back down rinse and repeat only when needed less then star link ...

Not a big drone fan but gotta say this is absolute genius!
Starlink has a new option coming available in 2023 that will allow TMobile clients to access its Gen2 LEO sats as part of their unlimited monthly T-Mobile plan. The initial product will be provide unlimited global sms on T-Mobile spectrum with voice and data to follow… This basically provides global communication access to TMobile clients. Golabal coverage and no roaming fees is pretty sweet. The biggest challenge with native Starlink is uplink speeds, and this will continue to worsen as more load is added.
In regards to drone assisted internet at powell, this has been happening for a long time. The smartest way is to seal a 3G or 4G phone with wifi tether (hotspot) enabled or a stand alone battery powered hotspot modem in a bag and the lift. With this elevated wifi platform you can use your laptops and iPads and cell phones on the boat for 30 minutes before landing. 3G works better than 4G at Powell.
A 20mbps download will usually run most of your needs including a single Netflix stream.
