After the earthquake about 3 years ago or so that lake has never recovered but the higher up people can't figure out why that lake don't hold any amount of water! You can clearly see on the time line when that Occured. Lake Powell should not have to feed mead due to the circumstances. The higher ups need to find another solution and let Lake Powell fill to it's capacity. Hopefully mead can hold it's own with minor help. Lake mead has cracked under ground and all the water will follow.
 
you are right, the outflow out 3 times more than the inflow to lake Powell will not keep this lake useable for very long, yes, that will change with the runoff, but gaining 40 feet this year and loosing 60 the following year will not work. You would think that our parks and wildlife people have these statistics handy.
 
200% on Colorado river plateau. 2 years ago we go a hell of a raise without this much snow pack. Weather is calling for a fast warming period

A lot of snow is good for the water year. A fast warming period is not though. Rain makes it even worse. Flooding is a real hazard with this much snow/runoff. Love to see Lake Powell water level come up as long as everyone is safe.
A gentle release is preferred by most
