All that snow will melt and drain to Powell. Yay! Wondering though if Alpine Loop will even open this year.

Steamboat just got 9” last night. It looks to me like there is enough snow pack still in unmelted as we would have an entire average year. I think we could see 40’ more rise if they don’t pull the plug.

Luckily the releases have been planned for the water year already. I don't think they can change it without very good reason. I know about 100 WW'ers who would gladly raise a ruckus if they tried.

We are planning a trip in August to do some Jeeping through Telluride, Ouray & Lake City. I am a little concerned about all the snow pack still.
Same here... but we're going in July. I've started to plan a different trip (into Utah).

A good possibility some of those high passes will not open until late aug to September. I remember years they never opened between Telluride and Ouray

Here's what should be the Alpine Loop Road going up to Animas Forks out of Lake City. Still a ton of snow to melt and find it's way to Powell via the Gunnison.
