Should I get a VHF Marine Radio

I have a 19ft Alum, fishing boat with a marine radio that I turn to channel 16 and leave on while on the lake. Over 25 yrs at the lake I can remember close to a dozen times we have been able to help someone during a crisis. Another advantage is eavesdropping on conversations of other fisherman as they change channels to talk. Many times I have talked to our houseboat while I scouted camp sites saving alot of time. Marine radio's are a no brainer! Get one on your boat!

i keep a print copy of the marine channels and phone numbers for the various marinas on the houseboat and in my contacts list on the cell. exec services does not monitor 16.

my CC is on file due to our HB, but if it wasn’t one precaution I would take would be to have my CC on file with Exec services. Our friens]ds had to be towed from the SJ one year and Exec wouldn’t even leave the dock until they had a CC number. Not something I want to be sharing over the marine radio
Could you share the list of phone numbers and channels to the marina's with us? Just in case. OOOOPPPPPS
Just saw the above post.
Thanks for posting

Wondering about the WW member’s thoughts on marine radios. Our houseboat has one, but we also roam far and wide in our 23’ Mastercraft and it does not have one. I’m a little hesitant to install an 8ft antenna on that boat mostly because I can’t think where it would go/fit. I do have a Garmin inReach so I guess there is a strategy there. Just wondering people’s thoughts on why they do or don’t have them for Powell and how they mitigate communication risk. We had one in the 1980-90s and it saved us a few times. It’s one of those things that nags at me a bit.
I would not be on Lake Powell without it.
