We hit the Thursday and ran mid lake to find a good campsite. Friday was the San Juan where the bass fishing never seems to disappoint. Nothing of any real size but a lot of SMB. I was using a 4” Yamamoto and my friend was using a small rattle trap . The grub easily caught 2:1
Next day we hit the Escalante, the scenery certainly didn’t disappoint but the fishing was very slow although i did get (and release) 1 nice LMB on a spinner bait. Overall the weather was great but very hot. We did not see a single “real” boil all the away from rock creek to SanJuan or Escalante. Just a few small surface disturbances that produced minimal fish. We caught enough fish for a nice fish fry but missed out on the mother load for stripers. Wrong place wrong time /guess. I am jealous of the reports of “channel wide “ boils but there’s always next time
