Rainbow Trout Caught

It has been along time since anyone has caught a trout in Lake Powell. Here is a nice one caught between Bullfrog and Good Hope. This is second hand report so I don't have names or reports. I do have a picture of a trout with Lake Powell in the background. My guess is that we can blame this fish on the big runoff and the many releases of water from trout lakes upstream.

My nephew caught a 20 incher a few years ago on the point just north of Moki. Gave him crap for 2 years as it was his first Striper fishing trip. Told him he could have stayed home and got one of them

I caught that Rainbow Friday evening the 7th on a primary point in Moqui Canyon while apparently hunting for anything hungry. Lol.. She ate a 5" swimbait in 74° water at roughly 20ft... 27", 5lbs even.. I have been fishing Lake Powell for almost 40yrs, thats the only one i've ever seen personally.. Fishing was excellent to say the least for all species..

I was thinking that you hooked them in the tail somehow.
We have used dead minnows and trolled them backwards (tail first), and it seemed to work better than head first. I think it made the fins stand out more and for some reason it worked. Maybe gave them more action.
