The dumb thing about this entire quagga mussel prevention is that the current system is not preventing the spread. The week before the lake closed we went out three days, we launched before the ranger started his day and came back in after he left. Our boat lives in Page, so no worries, but anyone else from anywhere else could do the same thing. Just like all the hype and hoopla and huge metal gate and road spikes at APM for the government shut down did not prevent mussels from coming into Powell, what they are doing now may check the majority of boats, but it's not all of them. One irresponsible early bird or late off the lake boat could take them anywhere and that's with full ranger staffing.
