We need to bring our well loved houseboat " Joint Custody" (Old 46ft Boatel) home (Montrose CO) for a refit and survey... (Insurance ). The old girl is is in a slip at Halls. We have a trailer for it as well as 2 owners with semi tractors to move her. No worry there. We have made this treck before so not strangers to transport it but the Mussel thing has us up against another unknown.

Need to do it soon due to water levels.

Plan is to take her to Hanksville to have the decon done at Hanksville RV and Marine. Unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Then we will have to face the music with the DOW in Colorado . But contact with them has been good so far.
(Like where could we get the thing in water here??).
(And why would you want to???)

Can't seem to find a contact for the inspectors at Bullfrog and how does that work to let us transport to Hanksville???

I know that we are sort of redneck do it your selves. Just want to do the right thing. Any advise appreciated... DMc

Colorado won’t honor any inspection or decontamination from Utah. So maybe you have to do it but you will be starting over in Colorado.

My assumption is that you will have to stop at the check station in Loma and they will send you to Highline to decontaminate. No idea how that would work or how long it will take. But I would want to try to schedule it so they know you’re coming and are properly staffed.

I’d start with calling the ANS program director at CPW headquarters and see what he has to say. But I think it’s going to be a huge hassle.

Robert is in charge of the Colorado program. You can reach him at

ȚHanks Ryan.

We have been in contact with the CPW. Can’t imanage they would make us take an over width load on a secondary road to Highline .. The contact we talked to at the port said if went thru the process in UT they would let us thru. After another look ??? Guess I need to get names and numbers on contacts from now on . It’s obvious that JC will be frozen on the hard in my backyard till next spring but laws are laws . This is going to take several days obviously . The first step is to figure out if the Bullfrog decom has a process to let us get to Hanksville.

Thanks again. Let me know if you have any other thoughts. DMC
