One thing to consider about the wind is that it's real easy to get onto a good bite in a canyon, hang out there till the bite slows then head out of the canyon only to find that your canyon has protected you from the wind. Get to the main channel to find big rollers, maybe even breaking. Wind direction and the canyons orientation is huge in determining how long to stay before peeking out to see what ya got. For example a sw wind coming into Dry Rock Creek can be brutal cause the main channel runs SW with a lot of miles to build. Just jumping across to Rock Creek proper can pucker ya up. Smaller the boat, the spookier the ride. Stay safe.
