I was sure hoping for 3590 but not looking good at this point.
At least we got that. Thought we may never see that again last year as the level kept dropping and dropping. So the Cut got wet and that is going to be about it. Hoped for more
I don't skate, but I ice fish thin iceProbably pretty close right now. Do you snorkle? (o.o6 of an inch!...
that's called skating on thin ice! Tomorrow will be your turn.)
Kevin,I don't skate, but I ice fish thin ice
It was a real good uneducated guess though![]()
Obviously an error in reportingA red number this morning! Seems a bit low from what the river inflows are but red nonetheless! We may have reached the peak!
plus it is blazing hot and is currently melting the rest of the high mountain snow that is still around which should sustain the runoff some. That was my thinking . . . . how do you go from 29,000+ inflows on Wednesday to 15,000+ on Thursday. One day and the inflows are cut in half??? Can't be.
It's OK to be wildly optimistic! It's why every sports fan thinks this is the year.It looks like the lake has topped out for 2023; 3585 feet may be it for the year. Another year like this would be great. I only needed 25 more feet for a well-earned victory at 3610 (what was I thinking?).
Considering all the pessimistic prose posted in the lay press (and even some here on WW) that the lake wouldnāt rise much above the 3540ās - Iād say itās been a fantastic year for the entire upper basin. Many of the upstream reservoirs are full or in the 90% range, and Powell has made a considerable rebound in just one spring runoff. We certainly have a ways to go and need some additional wet years going forward - but for a skeptical person like myself - Iām happily in the glass is half full camp. Cheers!
When visiting Powell the glass is always full, it may only be half full with water but clean air and beautiful scenery make it overflow!Considering all the pessimistic prose posted in the lay press (and even some here on WW) that the lake wouldnāt rise much above the 3540ās - Iād say itās been a fantastic year for the entire upper basin.
