We made our annual 2 week trip down to the lake from Montana. We put in at Wahweap on the 7th and motored to the mouth of the San Juan. We got a great spot in the small cove there that we have tried for years to get but it has always been taken. We fished the San Juan up to Piute Canyon (Cha is always my favorite along the house rocks). Everywhere we tried the smallmouth fish was incredible. We caught more and larger fish than in any previous year. Most were taken either casting to the shore or fishing directly under the boat on shad shaped worms or grubs. Green and pumpkin seemed to be the color of choice. Although one was caught on a piece of beef stick that was to terrible to eat. We did catch a few strippers on stinky fish, as we call them. The second week we moved to the main fork of Rock Creek. We caught a few stripers in the main fork but did better in the Middle fork. One great day where we boated 73 all on bait. We did see a family of 3 otters near the mouth of Nasja Canyon.
The weather was cooler and rainier that we have seen for several years but we still had a great time. The rain made for some great waterfalls.P1070024.JPG20181016_161910.jpg20181017_112614.jpg
