The fish cleaning station is closed due to the Carl Hayden Bridge sewer line maintenance project. This line moves waste from Wahweap and Greenehaven to the treatment plant on the Page side.

Greenehaven as well has been forced to collect sewage in their holding ponds. Pumping will resume once everything’s completed. Apparently there’ve been a few delays on the project, hence the frustration.

Wayne, tell me it ain't so. The Wahweap fish cleaning station is broken? What to do?

Simple - Take a piece of plywood with you. When it's time to fillet fish put it on the top of your cooler and fillet fish on the boat. If that doesn't work then look for a flat rock on shore and fillet there.

One day the cleaning station will open and we should have a party. This coming week it will be one month since we have been able to fillet fish there.

[NPS had turned the sprayer water on at the cleaning station so you can fillet your fish there and squirt off the fillet table- you just can't grind fish there. You have to dispose of the carcass by burying it, sinking it in the lake, or in the dumpster.]

If we wash off the filets and the table, the small loose pieces go into the drain, even though we don't try to grind the carcass, enough of the little pieces are going to collect in the grinder and boy what a smell in a couple of days (when it gets warm :)

That sounds like very good news. Have trash bags and electric fillet knife, will travel. I assume the electricity is on at the station and that only the grinder is turned off.

Tell us when the fish cleaning station reopening party is and we'll be there. Maybe we can roll a grill into the lot across from the cleaning station.
