NPS Announcement 3/18/26

That's quite the sobering foto.....but it says Oct 5th 2022 in the article. Is it just my 71 yr old brain, but why would they use an almost 4 yr old pic when discussing a VERY important current topic??

Sorry, I thought 'Grumpy old Men' was a training video.......

They don't have the resources to get a current photo. I had a friend once ask for pics of Lake Powell for a newspaper article he was writing. I sent him about 10 pictures. A few years later I was looking at an article on Lake Powell in the paper he writes for and found one of my pictures was used for the main picture. I searched my name in the newspaper and found that they had been using my pictures any time a Lake Powell article needed a picture. They just have them on a hard drive somewhere and recycle them constantly. I would have made a stink but there was no money in it anyway.

This. The other announcements have been pretty clear that when a low water ramp is eventually built, it will be at Bullfrog. I wish we had them on both sides, but for now I would be happy with one.
Minor technicality, maybe, but I read the reports and understood it to mean a new ramp would be constructed in the Stanton Creek primitive camping area, not the current Bullfrog area. So that means it's on the Bullfrog side of the shore and not on the Halls side, but not in the current Bullfrog Marina area.

Agreed on the location. I don’t think we will have water (or much of it) in Bullfrog Bay this time next year.

I am assuming with the Marina moving over there that will also be referred to as Bullfrog. But that is just an assumption.

Is the new marina the Stanton Creek Marina?

As I recall, the plan appeared to be a consolidation of both Hall's Crossing and Bullfrog Marinas into a single Stanton Creek Marina with access provided from both sides through a magical extension of the Hall's Crossing ramp via switchback and the "Stanton Creek Ramp" servicing the Bullfrog side, but all facilities would be housed on the one side. I am not sure how practical that is though and it is likely they have revised the plan, but we will see once the EIS that was supposed to be delivered in February is released.

I’m not sure I’ve read everything, but I haven’t seen that proposal.

Are you stating that long term Bullfrog and Halls are combined into Stanton?

That’s not the way I read the most recent announcement, although I could certainly see an argument for that to happen.

It was from their preliminary site planning from 3-4 years ago before they were saved by the big snow year. They were shifting all marina operations to a single marina located at Stanton Creek. I tried to find the original information on the plans, but was unable to locate them, so I may be misremembering things.
