Oh no secret, but I don't remember exactly where we saw them; it was in one of the side canyons in the Escalante. They seemed pretty friendly and in no big hurry to leave. By the way, the photo credits are not mine. They go to my wife. Thanks for sharing!
If it isn't a secret I was hoping you would share where you saw the otters? We saw one last year out in front of bullfrog, but it swam by the boat at a distance and couldn't get a good picture.
The water noticeably clears south of the Rincon, but it really clears up as you go up the Escalante. What is the clarity of the water in the main channel around escalante?
You'll have a great time... not too muddy at all. Especially when compared to farther north. 'Course, there were plenty of skiers and wakeboarders and such up around Bullfrog and Halls Crossing that were having a great time. It was not until you make your way up to the bend at Moki Wall and beyond until floating debris really became a bother. We are planning a trip and camp for a week or so. We would like to hang out in the channel mostly around escalante or hole in the rock. Is the channel to muddy to have a good time
No sir, we did not notice any striper slurps. The only slurping we saw were carp licking the vertical walls for moss, or quagga mussels, or whatever it is that they lick off the walls. We were looking for slurps though; it's almost time for them to get going.Nice healthy fish, nice report. Did you run into any slurps?
Thanks
Thanks friend. The thing gets power ok, but it keeps tripping a 50 amp relay whenever I hit a command button, and it blows a fuse on occasion. It has the power deploy/retract function, and even when I use the manual override to stow it the red and green lights flash like they are supposed to, but it just looks at me looking at it and it does nothing - we just sit there and stare at one another. I have a quick disconnect mount for it and I like to remove it and lay it on the deck of the boat when trailering so it doesn't flop around for hundreds of miles. Just before this trip I was backing down a step ladder with it and the dog got right underfoot enough to trip me up. Me, the dog, and the MinnKota wound up sprawled out in the dirt. The dog and I got up ok, but I'm pretty sure I knocked something loose on the motor.TPrice, I am far from a minn kota expert, but have been through my old minn kota and now upgraded my current minn kota, and had the run around with it. Enough times through them and you start to understand them a bit. What is going on and maybe I, or somebody else on this site, can help!
Thanks Ryan. I'll call this guy. Best part is, he's less than an hour from my home.
Of course! You are the guys from Montrose and Colorado's small town best kept secret, right? You were headed down to the Escalante. I enjoyed our visit. Hope you had a great trip.Nice trip and report, I talked to you at the courtesy dock at halls launch ramp Saturday morning.
I have a fillet table on my boat, (I highly recommend them - best thing ever) so I don't use the cleaning stations anymore. I did however, notice a fisherman up there one afternoon so I assume it was operational.Great report sir. Was the fish cleaning station also open at Halls?
Haha yes that was us and we enjoyed talking to you as well. We had a nice trip. The young man that was with us just had a snag so his drag was tightened up and next cast had a 4-5lb LMB snap him off at the boat in the Escalante. North was better fishing but not worth dodging debris the whole way up there. Slurps and boils should be good this year we had a ton of shad come into the green light at night.Of course! His name is Robert Christianson (970) 227-5202. Heās out of Windsor. I guess there may be more than 1 Authorized Minn Kota repairman but this guy is the client to Denver I could source. There used to be a guy in Colorado that was a certified Minn Kota repairman. Can't remember his name. Worst part was getting it to him.

Ok, so from all your recommendations I called Robert Christianson this morning. I can't personally vouch for his MinnKota repair skills just yet, but I can certainly say he has his priorities in order. I got his voicemail when I called that said "Sorry I cannot take your message; I'm away on a fishing vacation and will not return until June 13th. Leave me a message at a later date." Now, that man has his priorities squared away! His name is Robert Christianson (970) 227-5202. Heās out of Windsor. Those MinnKota's really don't have much to them. I've repaired a few since we don't have a service center anymore. If it's the board in the head very simple to replace if it's the drive motor the easiest and best thing I've found to do there is to just order the sealed unit of shaft and motor. Takes about 30 minutes to replace it. Parts are very reasonable from the factory outlet store. Now I just need to find a MinnKota service center.
Heās a super nice guy. I had an incident in my Tesla 3 driving up to Windsor from Denver to drop off an old MinnKota Terrova. I ended up hitting a 3 ball with a hook trailer hitch that came off of someoneās truck. I was two miles from the exit.Ok, so from all your recommendations I called Robert Christianson this morning.
