I know exactly where that picture was taken. Caught that 12.75 catfish just around the corner on the left on the way out of there. Not really a grotto, just a big flat overhanging piece of rock.
Yah he's 15 if he ate all that good stuff that I threw to him, and your right Len it's just a big overhanging rock. The coal miner in me said "DONT GET UNDER THERE" but the shade won out.

I went down by myself, and saw my first boat 15 mile's from where I put in. It was so pleasant fishing those boil's all by myself, it is hard not to go back again. But it was hot, and I don't do a lot of swimming, when I'm by my self. I don't want to become selfish on fishing Powell, but it's just not like it use to be when Howard Oatman and Capt Rim Rock were around. People on here just don't share info like they did then. Time's change and sometime it's not for the good.
That being said Dungee knew where I was at, and that is pretty impressive being as JFR California did'nt know. And that is all respect to JFR, and Dungee. But will those Striper be boiling there again when I go back? Who know's, if you have fished boil's as much as I have since 2001, you know how unpredictable they are, and unless you are there, or know some one that was, and fished them, you don't really know. Like I've said in the past, the only thing I have figured out about fishing, is you never really figure it out.
Have a good one, and go chase a boil :).

I got them behind Hotwheel's Island just up from Scorup canyon. I hope if you guy's go, you have as much fun as I did.
Have a good one.

Hi Kevin. glad you got into them boils behind that island. :) I maybe coming up July 18th

Awesome trip thanks for the report. Learning the lake and finding your own honey hole is what makes it fun. Keep it safe or you will be looking for a new one.

That's not my honey hole, that's ''Hotwheel's" I just used it last trip for a while :) There is no keep it safe, if your going to post. But there are many, many, many Honey hole's at Powell, so no worry's about finding a new one, you just go the other direction next time 😁
