Newbie advice

2021 seemed like a great year for walleye up north. Current water levels are getting me excited for a repeat of some old reports I had.

Memorial Weekend/ Bullfrog - GHB

Just got back last night from an amazing weekend trip with the Fiancé. Arrived at Bullfrog around 11pm Friday night and slept in an empty parking lot above the main ramp 🤯 and launched the next morning around 6 am. Couple things to note.... you can still launch in the dirt easily but parking...

Bullfrog to the Horn 5/15 - 5/16

Made a quick trip up Friday after work and launched Saturday morning on the asphalt to the East of the bullfrog main ramp. I launched my 21' boat in my profile pic with no issue at all, I'm not sure how long though it will last. Also I did park in the dirt just above that with several other...

Definitely have to pick your days if you’re running up to GHB. And we too have caught plenty of walleye in Bullfrog, Moki Hansen etc. That being said, I have never caught 20-30 walleye in a day anywhere but up north!!!

The only other 20/30 day I’ve had somewhere other than up north was last year on the Escalante. Everywhere else has been here and there.
 
Took my invasive exam online, purchased the invasive permit and an Utah license tonight. Should be good to go.

Last questions. Is there a place to eat at Bullfrog or Ticaboo? Anywhere around there?

Not much of a bait guy but if I wanted to pick up some night crawlers down there, do they sell them at the marina?

the marina and marina store have snack stuff nothing great cant say what bait they will have we bring our own or stop in hanksville and pick it up there we are leaving this am and gonna camp in blue notch if you decide to go that way we will come say hi

Ya it’s a tradition to stop at the hollow mountain store and pick up ice and night crawlers! It doesn’t seem like fuel is much cheaper in Hanksville than at Powell. We usually fill up the boat and jerrycans in Price.

We stopped at “Outlaw’s Roost” in hansville on the way down, last year. It was exceptional! I just looked online and it appears they open 3/16 for the season. I don’t know the exact timing of your trip but I wouldn’t pass it up if you’ll be coming or going anytime after the 15th!
