New fish finder recommendations wanted (sub $1000 range)

I have an older boat with a very simple Garmin Striker 4 fish finder, and now I want to upgrade, but don't want the new tech to be by far the nicest thing on the boat and worth more than the vessel it's attached to.

What would you recommend in the $500-$1000 range?

Check the Bass Pro sales. You should be able to find something there. I have 3 Garmin units on my bassboat. My cuddy cabin came with a hummingbird helix unit. It's a good unit, but I find the Garmin units easier to operate.

Lowrance Eagle Eye 9 forward facing , You can find deals on ebay and Amazon Its mobile and I use it on my kayak and Ice fishing as will as my boat . It is only a third of the price of a Garmin or Hummingbird ,But it does work . I am getting better at locating your lure and finding the schools of fish. I have 2 one I bought one at $999 and the other for about $750.

Garmin usually runs great deals during black friday. I think i picked up my Garmin 93SV for around $550 a couple years ago. I like the garmin units since you can always add the bells and whistles later as you want/need them.
