Need Help! Axle/spindle question.

Original owner, those original sleeves were always on there although not sure why because from what I’ve now learned they just seem excessive.

Those sleeves are stock they shouldn’t be there unless the axle was damaged

Yes, always have two extra sets with us wherever we go. Just never ran jnto this stupid sleeve issue before but I guess I was over thinking it. I will for sure implement the simple pumps before launching.

Yes, knowing what I know now I can’t imagine why it was even on there. Kind of like cardboard inside of a new shoe thing?

My car trailer has not had grease added in 3 years. I pack my bearings yearly (most of the time). I do not consider packing a bearing as adding grease, more like redistributing it. The grease has nowhere to go if the seals are good so forcing more in does more harm than good. This is hard to conceptualize because we always want to make it better, but some things are designed so well that we screw it up trying to overthink it. Dungee, with your situation I think the key is the best marine grease available. 40-50 times a year....wow, you're an animal.

allot of axle company's put those stainless steel sleeves on the spindle so the rear seal has a nice smooth surface to seal on. The Ranger UFP axles have them and I guess crestliner also uses them. If it was my trailer I would find the correct sleeve and put it back on. Loctite make a sleeve adhesive for securing those onto the spindle. Just MHO...

Doubled lip seal fits very nicely even without the sleeve. I probably would find the correct sleeve and put it back on but it’s been a royal pain finding one.

I always used the STA-LUBE 3120 Marine Bearing grease on my boat trailers and all the equipment at the golf course 34+ years. I use it exclusively on everything. I haven't found a better product. Your local NAPA will have it or can get it. If the surface where the seal rides isn't damaged, I wouldn't use the Spedi-Sleeve. They are primarily used replace the damaged area where the seal rides with a smooth surface. Sq

same here, Tucker Snowcats used that STA-lube on the the Cat track bearings, that sold me. Call crestliner and find out who makes their axles for them, they will have those seal seats, check pacific trailers also i beleive they have the sleeves there for the UFP axles.

That’s a lot I would be careful not to over grease I only launch 5 or 6 times a year
