There have been many threads on this site over the past 5 years or so regarding this topic. The 3,606 number came from Navionics. Are you using the phone app? I do not see any reference to 3700’ on my phone app....

I don't either I have it on my phone and it constantly updates on it's own when I open the app. If I know I am not going to have service like at lake powell I download the offline map and set water depth accordingly. I have never had issues with the app or the contour lines. If I feel it is off and I see a depth on a flat that does not jive with the app I adjust on the fly. It's a must have for my type of fishing.

That's the site I got it from. I love the app now that I understand it. I don't put the boat in gear without the app running.
Also, be aware that the chart plotter doesn't work correctly in automatic mode at the current lake level. Plot your course manually and you'll be fine.
how does your phone know where you are on the lake without cell reception? I understand if it's a garmin unit with gps capabilities but why would you put this on a phone? I hope you tell me that its somehow works on a phone on the lake, thats a gamechanger.

It works perfectly on the lake, you just have to download the maps when you have cell service, before you go. Works great on other lakes and reservoirs as well! I have it on my iPhone. Obviously doesn’t tell you the real depth under your boat, but it works great in conjunction with your sonar unit...

Yup. If you have location services on (which you need for the app)...you can set your phone to only use it when you are using the app, which is what I do....

That's so cute, you didn't know you were being tracked everywhere you go? Look up and say hello to big brother, but don't worry no one would use that information for anything nefarious, unless you're a "seditionist".

@stickbow shooter, today's measurement on Navionics would be -39 (3606-3567=39).
@kgmerrill12, the 3606 number has been discussed many times. It was originally provided to a member here by Navionics staff. It has been proven on the water over several years of use. Feel free to use the "Search" button for more info. If you're looking for an authoritative answer, you won't find it here. For the most part, we're all just regular folk who tend to figure things out on our own.
