Memorial Weekend: How Crazy Was It?

We passed through Antelope 4 times over the holiday and didn't see any law enforcement. One of the times, I may or may not have been at risk for a citation. I realized I wasn't quite wakeless because I was gawking at the Knight trucking houseboat. My understanding is that it is the biggest boat on the lake. That thing is insane!

We went through the wakeless zone between the dam and Wahweap marina 6 times and it was routinely disregarded, including people literally going full blast on plane.

thing is what defines wakeless in the zones??IMO water cops can take any thing they see as a wake yes i have been at slowest idle and stopped to be checked out let go with warning as if they have done me a favor.Other times i have set engine to 900 rpm and not even looked at just a small ripple off the boat

Been at wakeless but have had the ferry boat almost run me over in a narrow part too had i gone faster i would have made a small wake.

Wake less is typically 5mph or less and so posted. With the prop on my boat that's 900 rpms. At that speed my boat leaves a visible wake, but certainly nothing that would rock another boat. My last boat without a GPS fish finder didn't move the speedometer at that speed with the water pickup off the motor.

We rented a HB and 19’ powerboat out of Wahweap on 5/27, and we elected to have me pilot the small craft through Antelope wakeless on the way out to Warm Creek. No problems, except a few “eager” folks who decide to pass us in the wakeless area. Lots of HBs with crafts in tow, so we decided to tow the whole way back through Antelope. No worries. Just went slow and steady. Nobody uses horn signals, btw. I guess that’s a Powell thing?
