I am amazed at the number of people who just look at you when you wave and don’t respond. Makes me wonder what is going through their minds. The last trip down the majority of the boats that passed just stared or ignored you.
I guess they have never had trouble or needed help. I hope when they do the other boats don’t ignore them.
I had a friend explain it to me like this. Those of us from the country ( rural) areas, just go to the mountains, lakes or desert when we need space to reset. People in the big cities just ignore everything around them to get space because they can’t get away from it .
Don’t know if that’s right but makes sense to me. Anyway, Wave anytime you see my little Hewescraft on the lake, if I don’t respond come kick my A%##€.

Bullfrog and Halls Creek were very busy still on Monday. Tuesday was quiet. Ramp had no wait at 1pm. But on my drive back to SLC Tuesday it was a steady stream of boats headed to the lake. As for waving it seems most everybody on the North end still waves.

I have a slightly different theory. People from more urban areas are used to being around a ton of people all the time. Waving to every one would be pointless and or impossible. When you are not used to seeing very many people, you wave or say hi. The more people and encounters between people, the less likely the wave/greeting.

Could be. I just notice people don’t seem to as friendly at the lake as they used to. Maybe it’s me. Imaging things that aren’t there

It's not you, times have changed and not all for the better. Every year that goes by I get more and more condescending looks and fewer waves in response to my own wave, and I think life in the big city definitely is a factor. I was raised in a rural farming atmosphere and it's a night and day difference in the bright lights of the big city.

I would agree that up lake people are friendlier, but you see a boat every 10 minutes? Less? I don’t start waving until I’m passing Last Chance, just too many boats up to that point, and many of them are rentals or once a year people.
