May 2026, another Lake Powell adventure

We're back for our annual adventure on Lake Powell. We had an uneventful but beautiful drive to the lake this year. We decided to turn off of I-40 at Gallop and cut across to Tuba City, a route we hadn't been on before. The roads were in great shape for our rig. Just a beautiful drive all in all.

We are staying in the Wahweep RV park until we pick up the houseboat on Wednesday. Tomorrow we plan to take our pontoon boat up lake for a overnight trip and scope out some camp sites. Looks like the weather should be perfect. We always come a few days ahead of time and get a feel for the channel before piloting the houseboat. Hopefully we won't run into any whales in our travels.

Tonight we are eating dinner at the Rainbow Room before coming home to watch the Avalanche play in a Stanley cup game. It feels great to be back at the lake living the good life. Let the adventure begin! I'll post a few times and let you know how it's going. Our trip will conclude at Navajo Reservoir where we will meet my son and his wife for Memorial day weekend. I was hoping to continue my thread from last year but it is locked, so time to start a new one.

We missed you the other morning but will be around tomorrow getting ready for the houseboat on Wednesday. I'm in C 8. Hopefully we will run into each other. We found a beautiful spot on the east side of Padre Bay. No matter what the water level, Powell is beautiful as ever. Looks like beautiful weather ahead for both of us.
