Don't get me started! I am all for biofuels...but the whole corn ethanol scam is just a boondoggle. It takes as much fossil fuels to grow the corn, run the machinery and to harvest it as you get back in fuel to put in gas tanks.

I'm in complete agreement with your post, we owned an Amoco station.
But keeping it simple for IMO, simple minded/Al Gore/low information type folks with no attention span is: 'ethanol absorbs water and ruins your motor'

Best practices for forums. Users select which threads to read based on their title. When the conversation doesn't match the title it becomes frustrating. Also, and a greater problem in my opinion, when something truly meaningful - yet off-topic - is presented late in the thread, people will never be able to find it after the fact.

If a topic is worth discussing, it's worth its own thread with an appropriate title.
 
A few years back, President Obama wanted to increase the percentage of ethanol used in gasoline. There was a meeting in Washington with Toyota, Hyundai and a few other other major automakers who offer 100,000 mile warranties on their cars. All of the manufacturers said they would not honor the longer warranties if ethanol percentages were increased. I am now hearing that they want to go with 15 percent ethanol, which is a mistake.
