The body of the man, whose name and age weren't immediately released, was located and being recovered in the Cedar Canyon area of Lake Powell Thursday afternoon, said National Park Service officer Pam Rice.

GLEN CANYON NATIONAL RECREATION AREA — Officials identified a man who drowned Thursday while fishing in Lake Powell.
Jimmie D. Randall, 81, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, drowned after falling into the water while attempting to secure a vessel to a houseboat at the lake, according to an emailed statement from San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area's Pam Rice.
Randall was not wearing a life jacket at the time he fell into the water. His fishing partner dove into the water and attempted to rescue Randall but was unable to do so.
National Park Services rangers and other agencies conducted a dive operation and found Randall's body in 44 feet of water approximately 46 feet from the shore in the Cedar Canyon area of the lake.
The case is still under investigation.
