Last week we stayed 3 nights around two days of touring the lake. The staff at the resort were terrific, polite, professional, obviously wanting to make our stay enjoyable. The facility and dining, not so much. The rooms are worn out, carpet stained, furniture beat up. Dinner was enjoyable overlooking the lake, food ok. The breakfast buffet was barely editable and over priced. The server saw our disappointment that juice wasn't included, brought them "on the house." Of course the hotel was sold out, packed with tour buses. So, little incentive to invest in the facility.
Anyway, lake was was wonderful, but for an irritating wind. Years since we had gone up to Escalante, fun to visit again. Bring on the snow!

Trix--

Glad you were able to make the best of it. Not to defend the Lodge, but I was just thinking...can you imagine some of the folks who hold forth in that place? Just thinking of trash piles, fireworks buried, windblown on the water rubbish, etc...It sure would be nice to turn some of the profit back into the beautification of the digs.

Why? Full house. Guests stay only one night and go back around the world to home. Not even a bad internet report to worry about. Repeat business not a problem. It comes every night in the form of new customers. Keeping a clientele is not a problem. New ones every day. Its a business decision. Why spend the money if you don't have to. You will always have a full house no matter what you do,
As I've said for years living here- "This is Page". We love living here but "This is Page!"
Its just the way it is. Even with all the new tourist traffic it won't change because ? Wait for it-
"This is Page" !
