Honda 2200i all the way. not only for charging battery's but for running the electric fillet knife to clean all those walleyes! Honda is the gold standard for portable generators, enough said, my poop does stink but since I have had covid I don't smell it anymore!

Hi Dmorty,
Thank you so much for sharing your system. I have a generator already ordered from Cabela's. They have the Champion 2000 on sale right for $399. I know it's not anywhere near the durability & quality of a Honda, but for now it will have to do. Now shopping for a small freezer. You must have a really good sized boat (and a strong back );) to be able to lug a 5 cu ft model. We only have a 17 ft Crestliner, so I'm looking to get a 3 cu ft. Have you tried making small ice blocks from ziplock bags filled with lake water? They just might freeze overnight- I'm going to give that a shot.
When it’s hot out I like to buy my bags of ice there in Blanding and fire up the generator then. If she just has to maintain the supply of previously frozen bags and freeze a few new bags of filets each night it has no problem, not sure you could just start from scratch with warm lake water and expect it to freeze them in very short order?
